This D-ring cheekpiece keeps the mouthpiece steady in the horse’s mouth, while the pressure of the rings against the cheeks helps with steering—making it a great choice for young horses. Its shape also prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth.

 

The locked mouthpiece looks like a single-jointed bit but won’t fold as much. Under pressure, it locks into a straight bar for a stronger effect; with lighter contact, it works like a single joint. Ideal for horses that lean or push through the bit, but not for inexperienced riders. Made from Sweet Iron steel with its signature blue color, the bit develops a sweet-tasting surface rust that encourages salivation for better acceptance. Over time, the blue finish turns brownish-gray.
