It offers more control than a standard snaffle but is not recommended for beginner riders. A double-jointed mouthpiece has two hinge points, shaping more naturally to the horse’s mouth. It applies pressure to the tongue, bars, and lips, with more tongue contact than a single-jointed bit. On narrow jaws, the joints can press on the bars and cause irritation.
